Taiko in Kentucky! We loved our experience of performing for Berea, Kentucky’s “First Friday” Music Series that is supported by the Mortimer and Mimi Leavitt Foundation’s “Leavitt Amp” grantmaking program. When we arrived in Berea, the warm welcome of the community was unmatched. Hotel staff knew us and greeted us with smiles. Community-members approached us to tell us that they had been watching our videos and listening to our music in anticipation of our performance. The live sound production team was an absolute pleasure to work with, setting up for hours in the sweltering southern heat. The yoga studio that graciously allowed us to use their space as a green room was a home-away-from-home. Performing in front of such a welcoming and open audience in Berea’s Old Town Artisan Village was an amazing experience for Ho Etsu.
